Airborne laser mapping is a cheap, fast, accurate way of creating 3D digital pictures of the earth's surface or objects on it. It is used mainly for mapping or survey applications. You should be interested in the technology if you are involved in aerial surveying, aerial photogrammetry, survey engineering, mapping or remote sensing, if you require accurate elevation data for DTMs, DEMs or similar products, if you work with GIS applications especially for topographic mapping, coastal engineering, forestry, utility corridors or urban modelling.
